A Blessed Blur

Life this summer has been a blessed blur. That seems to be the best way to sum it up. We've had so many wonderful things happening, but have been a little overwhelmed by the hectic pace of it all. It's hard to believe that school starts tomorrow and things will level out into a normal, busy routine.

July found us hosting some very important people! Amos' mom was able to come for a visit, as well as one of Amos' college buddies and his wife; Josh & Alison. We had a great time with everybody and really enjoyed catching up and hanging out. We also took some time to celebrate Amos' birthday and our third anniversary...my how time flies!

July also found Amos busy at church as he coordinated a short-term mission trip for the high school girls to Trinidad; and later led a service project trip to Glenhaven Youth Ranch for the junior high boys. Needless to say, the time flew by as we were busy every minute.

August found us taking, a now walking and very mobile, Isaiah on his first trip to the zoo. We visited the Little Rock Zoo with Meredith's parents, brother-in-law, sister, and nephew. It was hot but we had a great time!

We had the privilege of attending some additional training recommended by WorldVenture regarding raising personal support in mid-August. The training was held in Northwest Arkansas and was very helpful as we look ahead to the next steps in our journey to the mission field. Jeff & Leigh Ann (Meredith's brother-in-law & sister) graciously cared for Isaiah while we were away, and he had a great time. We definitely missed him more than he missed us!

The biggest event of August for us, by far, was the celebration of Isaiah's first birthday...can you believe a whole year has passed since his birth?! We certainly can't! We had a great time celebrating with Meredith's family and the girls at Glenhaven Youth Ranch. Thanks Grandpa & Nana Tucker for hosting. Isaiah's growing and changing rapidly. He now walks everywhere and even is starting to run a bit. He babbles constantly and says several words, including: Dada, Mama, Kenya (our black lab), Moo (for cows), ball, more, all done and uh-oh. We're working on many others. He's like a sponge, soaking up life right now. It's a honor and privilege to parent him, and overwhelming simultaneously. Our greatest desire is that he'll come to know the Lord at a young age and serve Him his whole life through. There is nothing better in life!

On the missions front, the plan remains the same; to take a vision trip to several locations in Europe and Africa sometime in the Spring of 2010. We will be working on developing our team of partners - both prayer and financial - in the meantime. We'll keep you posted as the details of our trip unfold. Thank you for continuing to lift our family up in prayer.

We're looking forward to a trip to Minnesota in early September to visit Amos' family, as well as attend Meredith's cousin's wedding and visit with her family. It's going to be great to see everyone and catch up with old friends.

Thanks for your continued care, concern, prayers and investment in our lives. We couldn't walk this journey without your support!

It's Official!

If you have not already heard the news...we're officially WorldVenture missionaries! After a rigorous two-hour interview with a five-member committee, we're excited to announce that we were appointed as long-term missionaries in June at WorldVenture Headquarters in Littleton, Colorado. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers and support!

Our appointment was followed by a week-and-a-half of training at WorldVenture. It was a wonderful time of learning more about the organization, fellowshipping with the other seven appointee couples, and figuring out how to move ahead in this journey.

What's next? Because we're still grappling with the Lord's will for our future location of ministry, WorldVenture recommended that we embark on a survey vision trip. This trip will be in the Spring of 2010 and will take us to several locations in Europe and Africa. We will prayerfully meet with locals and missionaries at each destination as we seek to discover where we can most effectively serve.

In the meantime, we will be attending two more days of training in August here in Northwest Arkansas that will focus on developing healthy prayer and financial partnerships. After we complete this training, we will begin raising support specifically for our vision trip, but ultimately for our career on the field. We are going to do our best to keep our blog updated as well as sending out e-mail and snail mail updates. If you're interested in receiving these updates, please email us at amosandmeredith@worldventure.net with your contact information. If you are on our mailing list and desire to be removed, please contact us at that address as well.

You can learn more about WorldVenture at WorldVenture.com. You can also view our missionary profile via the dropdown "find a missionary" menu on the homepage. We would also LOVE to share more with you about this journey that we're on - drop us a line or give us a call and we'll set something up. All of our contact information can be found at the bottom of this post.

Of course, no post would be complete without some pictures of Isaiah, who will celebrate his first birthday in just a little over a month...can you believe it?!
